TFX - Natural History Museum - 05

Team FREDNET explores the beginnings of modern chemistry, starting with the GOLD on display at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles, California.  Gold was the means of trade between peoples and needed to be standardized in weights and measures, and in purity as well.  There was a real need for more and more accurate measures and standards, to help aleviate cheating and fraud.  Later, Gold was the focus of Alchemists who saw it as a link to the key to imortality.  The advancements in measures and standards lead to skill with the metal, and with the basic chemistry.  Alchemy advanced that chemistry even further; recording the reactions and data that became the basis of modern chemistry.
