TFX - Natural History Museum - 03

Team FREDNET visits the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles, California.  Here we start to see a little of the exhibit for gems and minerals at the museum.  Gold is given a prominent place in this exhibit.  Man's history with Gold is older than recorded history.  Our need to measure the purity and weights of Gold grew and grew, and that pressure to improve the accuracy of these technologies came from a true economic need, and created the environment from which modern science would eventually grow out of.  Early man learned to watch the skies as primitive astronomers, and as man began to domesticate plants and create permanent settlements, trade began to rise as well and with it, a need for accurate weights and measures, more and more.  Here we see the very element, that is one of the pilars at the heart of our knowledge of science, from its very beginning.
