Weekly Space News: A SpaceX Test for Mars

Last week, SpaceX tested their prototype pressure tank…for Mars!

In case you missed it, this carbon-fiber construction is a prototype of a fuel tank to be used by the SpaceX Interplanetary Transport System (ITS), which is the humongous rocket SpaceX hopes to use to colonize Mars:

When SpaceX unveiled their Mars plan, it was amazing that not only did they have this epic rocket design, but they had also already built one of the tanks as a prototype. And now, just weeks later, they’ve taken that tank out for a test run. (Instagram video of the rollout).

Quick progress makes for bold leadership, and having this kind of test happening already will add a lot of momentum for Mars…and for big space dreams. Could a new, bolder era of space exploration be upon us?
