Rover field tests started
Submitted by Team Puli on December 30, 2012
In October, we have started to conduct field tests to verify our rover concept - mobility and navigation. The first results were encouraging: the “wheg” (wheel+leg) concept worked well on smaller dunes and gentle slopes and hillsides. Not quite unexpectedly, we run into some troubles, however, on a steep hill with loose gravel and rocks using the first set of whegs. But we have several other designs to be tested, too.
Here is a how one of the rover's rear cameras sees the world. For more info and some nice pictures see the report of our László Molnár on our homepage.
