Keeping eyes on the target
Due to its elliptical trajectory, the Moon is not always at the same distance from the Earth. Last weekend, the Moon was much closer to the Earth than usually. It was bigger and brighter than usually. So, that was the reason why we could keep our eyes on the target easier.
Last week, we also had meteor showers, the Perseids, like every August. We could say that it was a real celestial show, for us to enjoy.
We have visited, again, the Astronomical Center Rijeka, in Rijeka, Croatia. One more time, we enjoyed their hospitality and kindness. The Center has a great planetarium for full dome shows, and we (some of us again) enjoyed in educational dome shows for students, and also dome movies for other visitors of the center.
I believe that, later this year, we will watch there the movie entitled Back to the Moon For Good, about the Google Lunar XPRIZE competition.
We are also preparing some new educational outreach programs, like a new balloon competition for the high school students, and also a workshop based on the Moonbots program for the elementary schools.
Also, we have strengthened our engineering team in the Rover division, but we'll talk about that on some other occasion.
Keep your eyes on your targets!
