Weekly Space News: Rogue Nine
You’ve seen Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in theaters. Could we now be seeing a Rogue Nine in our very own solar system?
The mysterious (and large) new Planet Nine, that evidence shows may be lurking in the outer reaches of our solar system, may turn out to not be a planet from our system, but one that was wandering the dark of the cosmos and was captured.
The planet’s extremely peculiar orbit (as seen in its influence on other objects, like dwarf planet Sedna), “is consistent with that of a captured rogue,” according to the new report. Perhaps we should name it Jyn or Erso?
Regardless, the discovery of a new ninth planet about 10 times the mass of Earth could lead to some exciting possibilities, and a way to study (from a telescope far, far away) a planet with some exoplanet qualities to it. Now, if we could only find it, out on the fringes of our solar system…
Sounds like a case for Captain Andor.
