Moon Race Roundup: Partners
By Nick Azer on September 23, 2014
People from all walks of life---and types of careers---have been joining together to get us back to the Moon...for good! As the Google Lunar XPRIZE begins to light up space in the mainstream:
That's Moon Express CEO (and billionaire, and meteorite collector) Naveen Jain (center, above) with moonwalker Buzz Aldrin (left, complete with "Get Your Ass To Mars" shirt) and musician will.i.am (right). Buzz was busy this summer getting all kinds of folks to tell their stories of inspiration from Apollo (from Pharrell, to JJ Abrams, to Stephen Hawking), and interest in space (and the Google Lunar XPRIZE) continues to heat up across different sectors of culture.
And this week, Ukranian-Canadian Google Lunar XPRIZE team Plan B showed off not only their story---and awesome 3D-printed moon technology---but also their family bonds, quick wit, and inspirational spirit, as the father & son duo of Alex & Sergei Dobrianski joined us live for a fantastic Google Hangout:
The Hangout's a truly great watch, with informative explanations of space travel, great stories, and 3D printed tehcnology demonstrated right off the desk in front of them. A fun watch!
Meanwhile, Pennsylvanians Astrobotic have been working hard, too, as they showed off more this week from their recent major field test:
And not only are people bonding together to work for the Moon---entire companies are partnering up, as well! File system & streaming company Tuxera bid in for the Moon with a sponsorship of Hungarian effort team Puli :
Want to be a team's next big partner? Even as an individual, you can!
Check out the teams page, find one (or more) that you like, and get in touch---you never know how you might be able to help & get involved with space! And shout out your support with #GLXP. Even one person can make a difference in getting all of us to space, and the Moon!
I'll be rounding these up every week---as the teams march forward towards history----so keep an eye here for the latest developments from your moon race!
