Moon Minute: Student Science to the Moon

Thanks to TeamIndus, student-built science projects are going to the Moon!

TeamIndus, one of the Google Lunar XPRIZE finalists, has selected two winners for their Lab2Moon program. Teams of high school and college students competed in the Lab2Moon program, with the hope of having their projects selected to be on the TeamIndus Moon lander when it launches on December 28th, 2017.

The winning projects were Space4Life’s idea to use bacteria as a shield against radiation, and runner-up Team ZΩI’s photosynthesis-on-the-Moon experiment.

Congratulations to the two winners!

Six other projects were also shortlisted to possibly take a ride on the TeamIndus mission, but only if sponsors can be found for them. Whether it is two projects or a total of eight student science efforts going to the Moon – Lab2Moon represents a tremendous achievement, and one giant leap for STEM education.

Stay tuned to see which of these innovative projects make it to the Moon.
