This week, on the road to the Moon…
It takes members of multiple generations to conquer great challenges---like getting us back to the Moon (and eventually Mars), for good!---and the son of one NASA elder statesman is carrying on his family's legacy through his involvement in the Google Lunar XPRIZE:
"[Andrew is] prepared to carry on my legacy when I'm not able to continue doing that." - Buzz Aldrin, on his son, team Moon Express president Andrew Aldrin (NBC News Science)
Andrew Aldrin (far right) has taken a lead as President of team Moon Express , and team founder/CEO Bob Richards (left) talked about their motivations for why the Moon, and how, in this video:
In addition to passionate small donors from around the world, SpaceIL also has the 9th-richest man in the world among their backers (having received a whopping $16.4-million donation from him), so people from all walks of life are joining together to get behind our 18 teams and their push back to the Moon.
"When innovation stalls, sometimes it just needs a little push." - Tim Stevens, CNET, on the Google Lunar XPRIZE
Exciting times ahead, and the future is starting now. Catch on with us!
I'll be rounding these up every week---as the teams march forward towards history----so keep an eye here for the latest developments from your moon race!
