By on February 22, 2012
Founder and Chairman of the X PRIZE Foundation, Peter Diamandis, is considered a forerunner in the advancement of science and technology. In his latest work he flexes his literary muscle to put a positive spin on the near-future of mankind with the global implications of cutting-edge technology through user accessibility. The highly-anticipated book titled "Abundance: The Future is Better Than You Think," hit stores Monday and debuted as #1 on both Amazon and Barnes & Noble, met by ecstatically positive reviews. Here is a review excerpt from the Amazon Description Summary:
"We will soon be able to meet and exceed the basic needs of every man, woman and child on the planet. Abundance for all is within our grasp. This bold, contrarian view, backed up by exhaustive research, introduces our near-term future, where exponentially growing technologies and three other powerful forces are conspiring to better the lives of billions. An antidote to pessimism by tech entrepreneur turned philanthropist, Peter H. Diamandis and award-winning science writer Steven Kotler.
Since the dawn of humanity, a privileged few have lived in stark contrast to the hardscrabble majority. Conventional wisdom says this gap cannot be closed. But it is closing—fast. The authors document how four forces—exponential technologies, the DIY innovator, the Technophilanthropist, and the Rising Billion—are conspiring to solve our biggest problems. Abundance establishes hard targets for change and lays out a strategic roadmap for governments, industry and entrepreneurs, giving us plenty of reason for optimism."
In keeping with the theme and promotion of the book, Peter will be giving a stand alone presentation at the 2012 SXSW Interactive Festival outlining the exponential growth in A.I., robotics, infinite computing, ubiquitous broadband networks, digital manufacturing, nanomaterials, synthetic biology and a myriad of other front-and-center technologies than are defining our world as fast as they are being developed.
His presentation is scheduled for Saturday, March 10 from 5:00-6:00 pm in Ballroom EF of the Austin Convention Center. You can find out more at the SXSW Interactive website, here.
