25 MoonBots Finalists Announced!
The Google Lunar XPRIZE announced the twenty-five (25) finalists for the 2014 MoonBots Challenge. The first phase of the challenge required teams of students to do in depth research about lunar exploration and produce a video about “Why we should go back to the Moon for good?” More than three hundred teams from twenty-one countries registered in the annual competition. The level of creativity, imagination and hard work that the teams put into making their videos has been amazing to witness.
Now that the 25 teams have been selected, they will now be challenged to build and program a LEGO Ev3 robot to perform a variety of tasks on a simulated moon landscape. The one of a kind landscape will be completely designed by the team. The teams will also be tasked with conducting a range of STEM outreach projects in their local community. The competition will culminate on the 1st of August. Stay tuned for an announcement of who the grand prize winner will be.
